Ex-GNR coupe composite

4mm scale model of an ex-Great Northern Railway coupe composite of 1921 (an example of which is happily preserved on the Severn Valley Railway). 

The model is a Kirk kit built exactly as-per the instructions straight from the box. The only deviations have been to fit the interior on a false floor (to strengthen the partitions up a little) and use Bachmann Thompson bogies instead of the ones supplied with the kit. 

I particularly like the hue of the teak effect; this took quite a bit of experimentation and always looked too matt in finish- the model has been varnished twice (firstly in gloss to bring the paint up, then in satin to tone down the overall effect).
